The average time from the first interview to acceptance into the program is two weeks depending on the timeliness of your response.
There is an initial intake form in addition to three interviews ranging from 20 minutes to 45 minutes.
On a typical day, residents participate in community meals, Bible Study, life skills classes, case management meetings, chores, fun activities, and relaxation.
No. All of the services we provide are completely free because of generous, private donations. You don't need to pay for food, transportation, utilities, or housing.
While we do provide free housing, the Expect Hope program is so much more than that! Residents are supported in learning life skills, increasing their academics, and finding a job to provide for them and their child. This is the place for you if you are ready to participate in an intensive program to build an independent life.
Each resident has their own bedroom to share with their baby. The other common rooms in the house are shared by all residents: kitchen, bathroom, lounges, etc.
Initially, all residents enroll for the period of time from their pregnancy to three months post-partum. At that point, you may re-interview for another three month session in our program. If what you are looking for at each point continues to align with our program's core values and goals, you may continue to re-interview with the potential of re-enrolling for ongoing three month sessions, through your child's second birthday.
As a member of our community, you will be expected to share in the responsibilities of cooking, cleaning, meeting together, attending church and Bible classes, and enjoying life together.
We encourage you in your academic goals and will support a reasonable class schedule as you prepare for and adjust to motherhood. Our team places a high priority in supporting you in increasing your education during the time you are in our program. We will work with you as an individual towards your goals. It may not be possible to complete a specific degree in full before your transition out to independent living, but we want to help you get as far as you can as quickly as possible while receiving the benefits of our program. Completing your degree as a part time student while living independently is attainable.
Yes. All residents must be home by a specified time each day for their stability and safety.
Residents have the right to hold and express their personal faith in God or lack of faith. However, Expect Hope is founded on the person of Jesus Christ and the truths found in the Bible and these principles will be applied in practices such as daily Bible classes and weekly church attendance.
